I used the export function to upload a Lucid diagram into Word as a PNG with transparent background. When I make changes to the chart in Lucid, it doesn’t automatically update the diagram in Word. Is that meant to happen? Or do I have to export the diagram back into the Word document every time I make changes in Lucid?

When you export a Lucidchart diagram as a PNG to Word, changes made to the diagram in Lucidchart won't automatically sync with your Word document.
To update the diagram in Word, you'll need to re-export it from Lucidchart and re-insert it manually.
For a more seamless integration, consider using the Lucidchart add-in for Word, which enables direct insertion of diagrams and automatic updates in Word whenever changes are made in Lucidchart
