Shape line connectors not connecting to correct point

There seems to have been a recent product update to Lucidchart and since then, line connectors are not connecting to the point in the destination shape that I want them to connect to. In my scenario - I am connecting one shape in a swimlane above to the first shape in the swimlane below. I am trying to connect the line to the top of the new shape but it defaults to what is shown below - which would be the starting point for the line connector from the new shape to the next one on the diagram. When I try and change the connection point, it just ignores and snaps back to where it put it. Can anyone help?

Hi @Alan Stevens, thanks for your post and thank you @Humas1985 for chiming in!

I am sorry that you are experiencing issues and I’ll be happy to help.

  • If you hover over an object on the canvas, clicking the dot that appears will allow you to drag a line from that object. If the dot doesn’t appear, that means your line connections aren’t on-- you can turn them on in your Document Settings.
  • If your lines are not appearing as you expect, WebGL might be causing an issue with the graphics card on your computer. Can you try toggling WebGL off? This can be done by going to View > Rendering > Use WebGL and un-selecting this option.

It seems like I was not able to reproduce the behaviour you are seeing. If the issue persists on your end, please send the following information:

  • A screenshot of the issue encompassing the entire swim lane and its shapes.
  • A detailed description of the steps taken leading up to the issue.
  • A screenshot of the associated Javascript Console output after reproducing the issue. You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+J (if your computer is a Windows/Linux) OR Cmd+Opt+J (if your computer is a Mac).

Thank you for your help and patience!

Hi @Alan Stevens

Kindly ensure the Enable line connections option is turned on in the View menu. Additionally, switching the navigation mode from trackpad to mouse can be helpful, as it allows for more precise control when interacting with the smaller connection point handles.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
