How can I create a default arrangement of fields for each box in Lucidchart’s org chart? Each time I import data from an Excel or CSV file, I have to manually adjust the layout

Hi @Office Operation

You can create an arrangement for all employee fields universally in the org chart Context panel, following the steps below.

Manage employee fields universally

  1. Hover your cursor over the org chart and select the dotted outline.
  2. In the org chart Context panel to the right, select the Layout tab.
  3. Click to expand the Employee Fields menu.

From here, you can:

  • Add or remove a field by checking or unchecking the relevant box.
  • Rename a field by clicking the title and typing a new one.
  • Apply a field to all shapes by hovering your cursor over the field and clickingorg-charts-globe-icon-in-lucidchart.pngthe globe icon.
  • Arrange the order of fields by clicking and draggingorgthe handles to the left of the field name.
  • Delete a field, show/hide label, or hide empty field by selecting org the More Options menu on a field.

You can also manage the fields of an individual shape by selecting the employee shape and following the steps above.

Thanks for the response @Ambar D

I know how to arrange the employee fields within the box, but each time I upload new employees using the import function, I have to rearrange them manually. Is there a way to set a default style so they’re automatically arranged?

Hi @Office Operation, thanks for your reply! I apologize for my misunderstanding.

Unfortunately, this isn’t currently supported in Lucid. When importing data into an org chart in Lucidchart, there is only one default style. By default, Lucidchart only displays the employee name and role on the org chart's shapes, but you can add or remove fields at any time as discussed above.

Although this isn’t a perfect solution, it may save you some time! After you have imported your data, to arrange employee fields within your org chart at scale, select the entire org chart. Then using the Layout tab as shown above, set which fields you’d like to display. The changes you make should apply automatically to all boxes within your org chart.
