Suddenly when I am creating new Entities in LucidChart ERD , and trying to create relationship, the cursor is now changing its mode to allow picking the anchor.

Also am I missing the relationship creation icon after the update? So I am basically left with copying another relationship over and modifying it. But still I cannot really attach it because of the inability to pick the anchors.

Lastly, creating relationships between two entities on different layers, seem to be quite difficult. I cannot seem to have this issue before.

May be I am missing basic things here.

UPDATE:

  1. I figured out the click sequence to select the anchor. While I am able to now proceed but it seems quite unintuitive. That is an UX issue that for now I can live with or move past.
  2. BURNING ISSUE that I still unable to get past is when I am trying to connect two entities that reside in different layers, even if I select all layers to be visible and unlocked, I can only select the anchor on one (originating) entity but NOT the destination entity (remains unselectable). What may I be doing wrong here? Please

Hi @tapas, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community!

Sorry you’re having trouble here, but I’m happy to help. I haven’t quite been able to reproduce this but I’d like to take a closer look.

Would you mind providing me with a screenshot of what you’re hoping to see or achieve with your ERD diagram? For more information or examples on ERD diagrams, check out this Help Center article: Create an Entity Relationship Diagram in Lucidchart

Could you share a temporary Document Support PIN for this document? This will help me take a closer look at what’s going on. This PIN is safe to post in this thread because it is only accessible by members of the Lucid support staff. You can find steps for generating a Support PIN in this Lucid Help Center article: Generate a Lucid Support PIN.

The way I am currently working around it is that temporarily moving both the entities on same layer and then creating the relationships between them. Being in the same layer I can select the anchor points on both entities to connect them. After creating the relationship, I am moving the entity to its intended layer.  A bit of an inconvenience but I can at least move on.

The real key is that when I make the layers both visible, selectable, and unlocked, I should be able to pick the anchors on all entities on both layers irrespective of them being on different layers. I could be wrong but thought I could do this in some prior releases but I cannot do it now. Either I forgot the exact steps to do it, or the process has changed that I need to relearn.
