Hi Steven thanks for posting in the Lucidchart Community! You can disable this setting by opening your Page Settings (File > Page Settings) and toggling the "Line Connections" option.

Eric--that disables MANUAL line connections, too. That’s not what’s needed.

To clarify, are you wanting to disable text connecting to lines? The text will auto connect to the line if you place it on a line connecting two shapes. There is currently not a way to disable this feature in Lucidchart.
