Pen tool pans instead of drawing

I use lucid whiteboard for my classes. For around half an hour it will work just fine with my pen. Then, randomly, the pen will stop being able to write, and it will just pan on the page. I have to close the tab and reopen the whiteboard in order to get it to stop. I have had the issue with WebGL active and inactive. I am using a lenovo thinkpad with touchscreen and pen input. 64 bit operating system. Windows 11. Intel Core Ultra 7 processor. 16GB ram. Intel R 128MB graphics card. With Windows feature pack. I have tried choosing a different tool and that does not fix it.

Hi @gveach,

Thanks so much for sticking with this and testing things out, and sorry you're still stuck with the pen issue! Thank you @Humas1985 for your helpful recommendations here! Since switching browsers isn't an option for you, here are a couple other things worth trying:

  • Could you check Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink, and turn off "flicks"? That's a Windows gesture setting that can sometimes hijack pen strokes into pan gestures after a bit of use, so it might be exactly what's happening here.
  • Would you be able to test in an InPrivate Edge window? That'll help rule out an extension interfering, without needing to install a new browser.
  • And if chat isn't working for sharing your diagnostics info, feel free to just paste the text directly here in the thread — that should work fine!

We appreciate you working through this with us — let us know how it goes!

Hi @gveach

This may be related to the interaction between Windows pen input, Microsoft Edge, and Lucid’s canvas. Since the issue persists with WebGL both enabled and disabled, I’d recommend testing the latest Chrome or Firefox, checking Windows Ink/pen settings, and toggling Edge hardware acceleration. If the issue continues, capturing the browser version and Lucid diagnostics information would help Lucid Support investigate the recurring pen-to-pan state.

Hope this helps !!

So I am unable to download chrome or firefox, I did toggle edge hardware acceleration, it didn’t fix it. Edge is version 152.0.4191.53. Not sure how to share the diagnostics info on the chat.

I managed to get permission to download chrome and firefox, neither fixed the issue. Chrome lasts a bit longer. Flicks is off. I didn’t have time to run an inPrivate window, I’ll try as soon as I get a chance. Most of the time I’m in class when the issue appears. I’m going to try to paste the diagnostics info I downloaded the last time this issue cropped up, again, but the last few times I’ve tried, it wouldn’t paste.
