Page Size Changes on PDF Export in Lucidchart

I have a LucidChart document that has about 32 pages. Each page contains a state chart for a process. Some state charts are small and fit easily on an 8,5x11 inch letter sheet, but some are huge and must be in a customized page that is large enough to contain the whole chart.

But after I assign page sizes for all the pages through the “Document Properties” menu and export a PDF file of the pages, I noticed that the page size is not remembered, so every time I want to export a PDF file I have to go through the entire process of assigning page sizes to all 32 pages.

Is there some setting that tells LucidChart to recall the page sizes and orientations that were used the last time I exported the diagram?

Hi @Fklein23, thank you for the update and confirming you’re using Lucid in a Brave browser. Lucid is optimized for Google Chrome, so if you haven't already I would recommend trying Chrome and see if the issue still happens there.

I appreciate all the details and updates of your findings. Please let me know if you notice any changes in behaviour or if you have any questions1

Well, I thought this problem was solved by moving to the Chrome browser, but I just noticed today that the same file has lost all of its page sizes.

So it would seem we have gone 3 weeks without this problem occurring.

You may recall that I created a Lucid document with the same number of pages with the same page names and I didn’t leave it open. But I never saw it exhibit the same problem.

This is extremely frustrating.

I really have no choice but to suck it up and live with this because the cost of starting over a document I have worked on for almost 3 years with some other product is too much to bear.

I am certain that, this time, the loss of page sizes happened while the document was open.

I am going to create a support PIN for the straw man document even though I can’t re-create the problem.with it, Since it took 3 weeks for the last occurrence to occur on Google Chrome, it may be one of those mystery bugs that only occur very infrequently and is going to be VERY difficult to catch “red-handed”.

Here is the support PIN:

Meanwhile, I will leave my straw-man document open and see if I can get it to forget page sizes, and I will make certain to close the production document when not in use.

The fact that it took 3 weeks for this page size problem to occur leaves me doubtful that we will EVER find the solution, but all I can do is try.

In a previous message I mentioned that I had save the production file to the cloud but saved my straw-man to my hard disk -- I just want to clarify that when I said I “saved it to my hard disk” I was referring to exporting to a PDF file. I have concluded that exporting to PDF is not the source of the problem, irrespective of the export’s target location.

Hi @Fklein23, thank you for the update and I’m sorry to hear the page sizes reverted again. To confirm, do you recall if you took any specific actions prior to the pages reverting? Are you able to export the document to a PDF document with the correct page sizes?

Since you mentioned the issue might be happening when the document is open, this may be linked to offline mode synchronization, especially if the edits weren’t properly saved to the cloud. Some steps to prevent this from happening again:

  • Ensure "All changes saved" shows before closing documents.
  • Use the latest version of Chrome for best offline support.
  • Check your connection when switching between work locations.
  • Here’s a helpful resource on troubleshooting saving issues.

I appreciate all the details and updates of your findings. Please let me know if you notice any changes in behaviour or if you have any questions!
