If you are manually creating the ORG chart you can add the correct shapes and adjust the connection lines afterwords.  Take a look at the below GIF for context. Please let us know if this does not make sense.   

I have what I believe is a similar question. Is there a way to use the org chart templates (so not creating one manually) and have direct reports shown by department/function vertically rather than horizontally? I'm basically trying to make it look like the option on the bottom of the attached image but LucidCharts seems to force me into a structure on the top. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!
