Is there a way to open a document in read-only mode ?

Every time I open a document and just view it and maybe set zoom ratio for example the document is updated with my name as last editor.

Thanks

Hi Itay

Thanks for posting in the Community.

If you have editing permission on the document then whenever you change something on the document you will automatically become the last editor. For this not to happen the person who shared the document with you would have to change the sharing permission to 'view-only'.

Let me know if you have questions on this!

The original thought above to be able to intentionally open a RW document in RO would be very useful.  Can this be added as a feature request?

Hi Simon! Thanks for commenting in our community! I'm curious if publishing your document might work for what you are trying to achieve? Take a look at our Publishing article from the Lucid Help Center and let me know if you have any questions about the set up or intended functionality. As an additional resource please also take a look at this Community post (in English) for an example of publishing in action. Let me know what you think.

If your document has a URL like https://lucid.app/lucidchart/blah-blah-blah-blah/edit?whole-bunch-of-other-stuff, you can replace the ‘edit’ with ‘view’ and remove everything after it, like this: https://lucid.app/lucidchart/blah-blah-blah-blah/view. This will open it in a read only mode, even if you have edit access. Would be easier if there was something in the UI to do this.

Hey Stephen, thanks for the great workaround! If you’d like to see a dedicated feature for this in the UI, we’d love to hear more about your thoughts on the experience in Product Feedback
