Lucidchart presentation builder does not show different layers on different slides
I have a Lucidchart diagram with a base layer and then 3 other layers that display depending on the layer action. When I try and create a presentation I want to have:
Base layer only
Base layer with layer 1 shown
Base layer with layer 2 shown
Base layer with layer 2 shown
But.. no matter what combination of visible layers I show on the slides on 2-4 above it only seem to show one layer. it looks good with layer 1 on slide 2 and that layer visible, but as soon as I move to slide 3 and activate layer 2 it messes up slide 1.
Not sure what I’m doing wrong or maybe this isn’t even possible?

Hi @Lee Slowick,
Thank you for posting in the Community! Does this only occur in presentation mode?
Yes, presentation mode and presentation builder.
I can’t get the separate layers to show up on separate slides using presentation builder. I was thinking I’d need a separate slide for each layer.
But I think I figured out to just have a 2nd slide sized to fit any layer. I can then click on the action (linked to each layer) in the flow and the appropriate layer displays.
So, Instead of having 4 slides (base + slide for each of the 3 layers visible) I have 2 slides…
A base slide that is larger (showing basic flow)
2nd slide that is smaller (more canvas) where I can click on the appropriate action button and pop-up the corresponding layer.
Hi @Lee Slowick,
Thank you for the reply! I am glad to hear that you found a workaround to the issue. I am happy to still look into it though if you’d like.
If you are still interested in receiving support, could you provide screenshots of what you are trying to achieve with four slides? Can you also please send a temporary Support PIN for this document? This will allow me to take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing. For more information on generating a Support PIN, check out this Help Center article.
Hi Kelsey,
My goal is to have the 1st slide as you see, then 2nd slide show the 1 layer added to it (which is enabled using the 1st green action button, then the 3rd slide show the 2nd layer, and a 4th slide show the 3rd layer. Basically each subsequent slide removes the previous layer and shows the next layer in the progression.
Here’s a screen shot of chart with 1st slide and 2nd slide having layer 1 added to it.
Now if I add a 3rd slide
And if I try to change the layer on the 3rd slide (i get this by doing a shift click on the greenish action button in the middle) i get this:
it removes the layer i had visible on slide 2
Hi @Lee Slowick,
Thank you for clarifying, this helped so much! Unfortunately there isn’t a built-in way to accomplish this, since slides reflect changes on the document. As a workaround I have two suggestions on how to make your slides display the layers you are looking for:
Copy and paste the layers you want to display and the other content to another portion of the board. This will allow you to create a slide with the desired layers, but requires you to separate them out.
While in presentation mode, you can use action buttons. You can make all of your slides fit the layers, and then as you go through the presentation, use the actions while presenting. Using actions in presentation mode
Kelsey
Appreciate the help and answer. I’ll work with what you suggested and give it a try.
Thanks again,
Lee
