Hi @jestes
In the standard Lucidchart environment, you can upload data from CSV, Excel, or Google Sheets using features like Data Linking, Smart Containers, and Data Refresh. These tools allow you to automatically generate shapes from a data source, and organize them by fields such as status, owner, or category.
- Smart Containers are particularly helpful for workflows like yours: after importing your item list, Lucidchart can create one shape per row, and group them dynamically based on fields like “Status.” As the data source is updated (e.g., daily), the diagram can be refreshed — avoiding the need to recreate it.
- If incase you are using Lucid GovSuite (FedRAMP), some of these features may be restricted due to compliance constraints.
Kindly check with your Lucid admin or Lucid support to confirm which capabilities are available in your environment.
Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards
Hi @jestes, thank you for posting in the community! Just to add onto the information Huma shared, we have an integration for Lucid Cards with Excel or Google Sheets however that is not available for FedRAMP users. However, you should have access to the data-linking feature which allows you to drag and drop a cell or row of data directly onto the canvas to create a new shape linked to that data.
I hope this helps! Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you both for your responses. I had a feeling that this was going to be response do to the environment. I’ll attempt to set this up and see how it goes.
Thank you for the follow up, @jestes! Please let us know if you have any questions about data-linking - we are happy to help!
