Is there a way to split a diagram into multiple sections such as with a line? (and maybe color each section)The only way I was able to do this was to make three square sections but it's a lot more difficult to add shapes inside them and there is also no grid lines. Thank you in advance!

Have you tried using swim lanes. Search swim lanes in the tool browser. Swim lanes can be locked so that they do not interfere with your drawings.

Alternatively you could create a diagram "frame" as you have sketched and change the opacity of the boxes to zero then lock the images.
Opacity Setting for any shape you insert.
Locking a shape so that you don't select it each time.
