Is Lucid AI interfering with my documents?

Ever since Lucid AI appeared, working with my Lucid Chart documents has become irritating. My observations:

Page tabs. Renaming page tabs fail. My edited page names disappear and are replaced by default “Page 4, Page 5...” If I rename them, the names all disappear when I reopen the document. This is severely irritating since I work with dozens of page tabs in fairly complex documents.

Also, Choose a page color fails to change the color. The colors will briefly appear for about a second when I reopen a document, but then disappear along with my names.

Image cropping no longer works. Although not catastrophic, this makes it really hard to quickly mockup storyboards using screenshots or other inserted images.

Lucid AI opens automatically whenever I select a page. I have to dismiss it each time I open a page tab!  I really hate this! Where is the preference setting to disable this “feature”?

In truth, I am not certain that the Lucid AI feature is the culprit. But these phenomena seemed to begin when the Lucid AI icon appeared.

And, if anyone cares, not a single “option” offered in the Lucid AI menu is of any value or interest to me. Can this be dismissed? It’s like an unwelcome and un-talented guest that won’t leave my team projects.

Hi @Rafael Olivas, thank you for the response! I’m glad to hear that the page tab and image cropping issue does not happen in a new blank document. In this case, it suggests that the issues you experienced is likely document specific or related to your browser performance. For the issue where you could not add another symbol, there shouldn’t be a limit on number of objects in a document with the exception of free users who have a 60 object limit in Lucidchart. Could you please confirm if you saw a popup message when this happened?

If the issues persist, could you share a temporary Document Support PIN for an example document? This will help me take a closer look at what’s going on. This PIN is safe to post in this thread because it is only accessible by members of the Lucid support staff. You can find steps for generating a Support PIN in this Help Center article

Regarding the Lucid AI window, I have passed your feedback on to our development team for consideration. However, please let me know if you notice the window opening when moving between document tabs, or reopening multiple times in one session. Thanks!

@Rafael Olivas these are great observations and a good question that you bring up. This appears to be related to an update. Here are the release notes: https://community.lucid.co/product-updates

I can’t find anything about when the AI was introduced from the first page of results. Since you’re more familiar with the date, can you provide the month? I assume it was from this year.

Here is how to disable Lucid AI:

Hi @Rafael Olivas, thank you for posting in the community. Sorry to hear you are experiencing trouble with some of our features. Would you mind sharing more information about this below to help me take a closer look?

Page tabs: Is this happening a specific documents or have you noticed it with any document? If you haven’t already, could you please try this in a new blank doc and let me know if renaming / choosing a page colour works?

Image cropping: I unfortunately haven’t been able to reproduce the issue described with Image cropping. Is this also happening to any document? Are you cropping by double-clicking the image?

Lucid AI opens automatically: Could you please share a screenshot of the panel that opens automatically when changing page tabs?

Thank you in advance for your help! Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Leanne C: As you suggested, I opened a new document to test the issues. Here’s my latest findings. Overall: normal behavior has returned. Details follow.

Page tabs. The page tabs in the new document appear to behave normally for renaming and coloring. As for my “affected” document, it now seems to be behaving normally, but it required yet another close/reopen; today it seems to be back to normal.

Image cropping. This is back to normal behavior. Curiously, I noticed the original problem only occurred with pasted images, rather than inserted images. But a quick test with pasted image and inserted image now seems to work in a new document and in my prior affected document.

Lucid AI opens automatically. This seems mostly resolved, In the new test document, this window opened without prompting (which is not welcome). However, it can be “minimized” back by selecting the icon in the left panel of icons. But oddly, using the shortcut Ctrl-J only opens the window; that shortcut does not toggle to minimize it if it is already open. So, at least this is now reduced to a manageable condition and only seems to occur upon creating a brand new document.

On balance,  to “restore” my affected document, I had to close and reopen it three times (over a couple of days) before it returned to normal behavior. To be fair, maybe these issues are associated with the size of the documents we use. In one document, I even hit a “wall” where I could not add another symbol. I suspect that Lucid has a limit on the number of content items that can be in a document. Is that true?
