Hi @dan-lucid, thank you for posting in the Lucid Community! Unfortunately, bulk export isn't a feature we have available at this time.

However, we do allow for a backup of all documents on an individual user account to Google Drive. You can set up a weekly backup of your Lucidchart documents to Google Drive. If you set this up, you will receive an LAF backup file in your Google Drive account every week. You can then restore your documents to Lucidchart. It is important to note that LAF files are only readable by Lucid.

Alternatively, you could programmatically export all documents on your account to static images using Lucid's external API - Export Document endpoint.

To export an individual Lucidchart document as Visio file, follow these steps as outlined in the Export or print a Lucid document article from the Lucid Help Center:

  1. Open the File menu from the menu bar.
  2. Click Export.
  3. Select Visio (VSDX) or Visio 2010 (VDX).
  4. The file will download to your local device.

Note: The only action type supported in Visio after VSDX and VDX export is a link to web. VSDX and VDX action types not supported include linking to a page, layer, document, or email.

If you would like to see bulk export to Visio added as a functionality, I would recommend upvoting the post below. This helps our product and development teams gauge the popularity of a feature request.

When testing the mass export/import, it often times out with file sizes one gigabyte and larger.  Are there alternative mechanisms for importing other than the web?

Hi @dan-lucid, can you clarify which method of export/import you are attempting? Does the issue occur with LAF backup files? Are you receiving a particular error message?

Hi @dan-lucid, I'm Yash, an engineer here at Lucid, and I wanted to share a recent improvement with you—looking forward to your thoughts!

We’ve made updates to the Backup‑Restore flow to support restoring large LAF files. If a file is over 100 MB or a restore attempt fails, you’ll now see a “download fragmentation” banner. This lets you break the file into smaller, more manageable chunks that can each be restored individually.
