I have review the docs and you tube videos. In all cases it seems I can assign connect objects to a layer but I do not seem to be able to assign a dispersed set of objects to a layer. I will add a layer, then select existing object, move it to the layer. Do that 2 times or 3 times and then the control does not work anymore. The object moved can not be moved back. I end up deleting the layer and starting again. This should not be this hard.

First, select multiple objects at once by using Shift + Click for specific objects, especially if they're scattered. Also, press Ctrl + A to select all objects within a layer.
Next, move objects to a different layer by right-clicking on the selected objects and choosing "Move to Layer." Then, simply select the target layer from the dropdown menu.
To ensure objects are correctly assigned, open the Layers Panel and toggle the layer visibility. This will confirm whether objects were assigned as intended.
