How do I turn off conversion to code when copying and pasting subscripts?

Whenever I copy and paste any text with subscripts, it automatically turns it to code, with a popup asking me, “Not code? Convert to text block”. However, when I convert it back to a text block, it removes the subscripts. Very annoying. Paste as plain also does not work. Is there a way to turn this feature off?

Hi @wiho777, thank you for posting in the Lucid Community! Thank you @aparrish for your suggestion, I’m jumping in here to provide additional support.

In order to add superscripts or subscripts to your text in Lucidchart, you can use the Text options drop-down menu in the top menu bar to format your text.

However, I’ve also been able to recreate this same experience when pasting plain text containing subscripts and superscripts.

I’m checking in with our product team to see if they have any additional insights! I’ll get back to you in this thread with additional information as soon as possible.

@wiho777

Pasting as plain text can be done by using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+Shift+V (or Command+Shift+V for Macs). Keep in mind that this is different from the usual CTRL+V. If you click the shape once and then paste using Ctrl+Shift+V you should be able to sidestep both issues you are seeing.

Like I said in the post, I’ve already tried doing pasting as plain text (both using the command you shared as well as already right clicking and selecting “Paste plain”. When I do this it gets rid of the subscripts entirely. Please try this yourself and let me know if you can reproduce it.
