Hello guys, not new to Lucidchart but haven’t been able to find this feature if it exists, I have a very large canvas I plan to export the whole thing as a PDF but would also love to be able to set sections of the canvas for individual smaller exports, sort of how Artboards work in Adobe Illustrator. Is that possible?

Attaching a diagram of what I mean, the white is the canvas, each red outline is a portion set for individual exports.

@Marcus, depending on the PDF settings you are downloading, you can customize various elements of the file's format. You can crop your document before downloading by selecting "Custom Crop" to customize the area selection that will appear in your downloaded PDF file, which addresses your desire to set sections for individual exports. After selecting your crop settings, click "Download." You can find more information on this topic on the Lucidchart support page. Let us know if that works for you.

Good afternoon @Marcus,

If you want to export a specific selection into a PDF, you can do that using the custom crop option in the export. I did this by putting my sections into containers (so I could visually see the sections I wanted to export), and then I export and pick the option to “custom crop”. You can see those steps in my screenshots below. Let me know if that works for you!

@Shantel Gillette That seems to be what I’m looking for thanks! I’m actually more interested in how you setup and finally use the containers as “selections” to use the custom crop more effectively

In the example I provided, I just added some frames with different colors to visually see where I wanted to export. To add that you can drag the type of container you prefer from the container shapes on the Lucidspark canvas. Then you can add all the shapes within that container as needed. The nice thing about a container is that if you move the container, all shapes within it will stay in place and move with that container. In my screenshot below I show how to add a container shape.

Thank you Shantel, I did add the containers, I don’t know why I thought this would help me automatically select a portion of the document as a custom crop, but re-reading your original reply I think you meant you use them simply as a visual cue to help you manually drag a crop selection, am I correct?
I might need additional software to do what I want if so.
I’m thinking exporting my whole board as a PNG file and setting the artboards (selections) in Illustrator, any time I need to update the whole document I can simply replace the image.
