Hello,

I’ve looked around the forums here and I wanted to ask this question as it doesn’t appear to be truly answered yet. I have a very large org chart (over 300 employees). The department wants to display this org chart on a tv but It doesn’t look good as its way to large. They asked if there is a way to create views of the different sub departments so that we could display the smaller segments instead. I’ve tried using the master page but I don’t see a way to focus on a specific segment of the master chart. We don’t want to create separate charts as we would like to just maintain the master chart. Is there any functions or views that I can set up to do this?

Thanks,

Joel

Hi @jestes

For large org charts, achieving a Focus on segment effect can be accomplished through different methods depending on your account type. If you have an Enterprise account, Group View offers a clean and automated approach.

As a second choice, for non-Enterprise accounts, layering with hotspots provides a practical workaround to simulate sub-views within a single file. While a fully automated solution is not currently available, these methods provide effective ways to manage complex org charts.

Thank you very much and have a great one!

Hi @Humas1985 ,

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately the group view isn’t going to work as the department wants the look to remain an org chart and not a set of boxes with everyone’s name in it. Does the layering work with the master page option? So that I can show the layer on separate pages instead of the whole chart?

HI @jestes

There are a few key limitations to consider when using this method. Firstly, it requires manual management, meaning that any changes to employee details must be updated individually across each relevant layer or page.

Similarly, layering sections can be more challenging if your chart utilizes smart containers or data imports, as these features tend to group employees closely together.

Moreover, while the master page controls shared backgrounds and static elements, it does not manage layer visibility - instead, layer toggling occurs at the individual page level.

Best Regards

Hi @Humas1985 ,

I reached out to Lucid support and they recommended a solution that I think will work for us. They stated that we should try presentation mode to create slides of the different sections so that they can be focused on and be displayed like a slide show. I think this will work for now but did make a suggestion for org charts to allow sub displays of different sections to be displayed on different pages while updating from the master page set by the user. It would allow for less manual changes and be easier to manage. Thanks again for the help.
