Hello.
There was a recent UI enhancement about organizer drop zones. This was the description: Organizer drop zones: Move shapes around drop zones more precisely, thanks to a tidier view.  The related image shows different size sticky notes inside a dynamic table column.
The description and the image is not helpful in understanding this new enhancement. We could put sticky notes and ones with different sizes inside a dynamic table.
So I played around to figure it out. Are any of these guesses correct:
-the purple indicator line is now darker when moving a sticky note around inside the dynamic table? Or was it always that dark purple?
-does it have to do with the assisted layout feature instead? Does it have to do with that dotted line that appears when hovering one sticky note over another? So when you put the second sticky note down and now move it they both move together?
-does it have to do with the assisted layout feature? Does it have to do with the dotted border that appears instead of the filled in purple placeholder if you hover a sticky note over an empty spot for too long?
Thank you for your time. Bye.

There is only one image on the page showcasing the new UI enhancements that outright indicates its for Lucidspark because it shows the distinct lefthand toolbar from Lucidspark. All the other images just show a dotted background. Since Lucidspark and Lucidchart share a universal canvas we don’t know which app these new UI enhancements are for and since some features are exclusive to Lucidchart it makes it even harder to tell which app these new UI enhancements are for. So we could have created the Dynamic Table in Lucidspark but the organizer drop zones could be exclusive to Lucidchart.
Can you clear this up please.

Hi @patrickpereira1988, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! To clarify, organizer drop zones are available in dynamic tables, timelines, and mind maps

This feature helps to more accurately place the sticky notes in the dynamic tables exactly where you want them to be. You’ll notice that as I drag the brown sticky note into the dynamic table, a faint grid appears. One side of the grid is highlighted a darker purple as you approach it. That highlighted section indicates where the sticky note will be magnetized to/placed next to when dropped into the dynamic table.

Is it this purple grid for the dynamic table?

Is it this grey playholder node that appears in between sibling topics and that also appears when you want to move it to a child topic?

What is this for containers and frames? Organizer drop zones or something else? When I turn on Assisted Layout and move a sticky note around but hover in the same spot for too long a dotted square appears?

Hi @patrickpereira1988,  this specific functionality of organizer drop zones is only available in dynamic tables, timelines, and mind maps

  • Dynamic Tables - Yes, you can see the organizer drop zones available in dynamic tables by looking for those purple grids in your screenshot.
  • Mind Maps - Yes, it is the grey placeholder that appears as you drag items to different places in your mind map. These indicate where the items will be placed if you “drop” the item into place. I’ve shared feedback with our product team that this may be unclear since the color does not match what you experience in dynamic tables.
  • Containers and frames - This specific feature functionality is not available in containers and frames. The closest experience here would be assisted layout as you’ve discovered, which is slightly different, but may also help to organize and place your content.
  • Timelines - This feature is available in timelines as well, and it is indicated by the purple highlights just as in dynamic tables.

Let me know if you have any further questions here! Happy to help!

Hi @patrickpereira1988 I can help explain some of the more detailed changes related to that post.

As far as the changes related to the message “organizer drop zones: Move shapes around drop zones more precisely, thanks to a tidier view,” here are some of the changes we made. They improved consistency across dropzones and reduced noise; some are pretty close to your guesses.

Changes to dynamic tables in more detail available in both Lucidchart and Lucidspark through product switching and our universal canvas.

  • When moving items between cells in the table, we don't have an outline anymore around the cell

  • When moving items around the same cell, we no longer have a fill.

Changes to timelines in more detail available in both Lucidchart and Lucidspark through product switching and our universal canvas.

  • The sub zone divider which appears between cards on drag is now darker. It used to be a light blue, but we made it darker and more consistent with other dropzones.

Thanks for the feedback about the way we talked about these small enhancements in our last post. I can take that feedback back to the team for our next announcement and make sure we emphasize where the change is available and provide more context.
