Fix for "Hourly invitation limit" error

I am working with Lucidspark documents embedded and/or linked in Canvas.

Some students are able to access the documents and some are not. I’ve set sharing to “everyone in my organization.”

So as a way around this problem, I pasted the entire list of emails in the invitation window (37 people). I get the reply “You've reach your hourly invitation limit. Try again later"  If I enter one email, I get the same response. I waited an hour and tried again. Same response.

What is the limit? Why is there one set at such a low number? How often does it reset? Clearly not hourly. Or, is there something else going on?

Thanks.

Hi @fc24336, thank you for posting in the community! Just chiming in to share some information. Group management options are limited to Enterprise accounts. As a workaround, I recommend creating a shareable link and sharing that with your students. For more collaboration and sharing options, please check out this Share with Collaborators article from the Lucid Help Center.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let us know!

@fc24336 thanks for the details! The “You’ve reached your hourly invitation limit” message is usually triggered by Lucid’s anti-spam/security limits around sending many invitations in a short period of time. The limit is not based only on the number of people in a single invite — multiple invitation attempts (including retries) can also count toward the limit.

A few things to try:

  • Instead of manually inviting all 37 users, confirm that your Lucid org sharing settings allow access through your organization domain. If the documents are embedded in Canvas, students may need to be authenticated with the same email/domain that your Lucid organization recognizes.
  • Check whether the affected students are logging into Lucid with a different email address than the one in Canvas.
  • Try sharing the Lucidspark document link directly with “Anyone in my organization with the link can view/edit” (depending on the access level you need) rather than sending individual invitations.
  • Since you’ve already waited an hour and are still seeing the message, it may be that the limit window has not fully reset yet or that repeated attempts extended the cooldown period.

If the issue continues, I’d recommend checking the organization sharing settings or contacting Product Support so they can verify whether your account has hit an invitation threshold.

Hope that helps!

Thank you!

Yes, some students were not going through the Canvas link, hence they were not being recognized. I see more activity now so maybe I solved the problem.

Is there a way to put all the students’ emails in a group?
