I want to be able to export my process maps into excel and maintain the order of steps from my process map

Hi @Sam B

When exporting process maps from Lucidchart as a CSV file, note that the visual sequence of steps is not automatically preserved. Instead, the export is based on the internal ID order of the shapes, resulting in unordered rows that don't reflect the diagram's flow.

To maintain the correct sequence, add a manual "Step Number" or "Sequence" data property to each shape and sort the exported CSV accordingly.

Hey Humas,

So I understand correctly

Would this require exporting the CSV and manually mapping the steps and then sorting them, or can I attribute the sequence order in Lucid before exporting?

Cheers

Hi @Sam B

Correct—you can set the sequence order directly in Lucidchart by adding a “Step Number” or "Sequence" property to each shape before exporting.

When you export to CSV, include that property, then sort your CSV by this column to maintain the correct process flow order. No need for manual mapping after export if you add the sequencing beforehand.
