We have received several reports from users indicating that they are encountering errors while attempting to integrate Lucid into a Canvas assignment using the External Tool.

The error message displayed states: “Sorry! Our servers experienced an error. We apologize for the inconvenience. (Error Code: CE014)”

Could you kindly clarify whether utilizing the External Tool to embed Lucid is the correct method for adding it to an assignment, or if we should be utilizing the Lucid icon within the Rich Content Editor (RCE)? Furthermore, what are the recommended assignment settings to enable student submissions with grading support?

Are there any available documents or resources that we could consult for guidance on this matter? Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

No, I mean when I access Lucid from course navigation on Canvas (see the attached screenshot) I click the explore lucid button → the system will navigate me to the different tab instead of staying inside Canvas. This is the expected behavior? As I remembered the first time when  I installed Lucid into my Canvas instance, I could access Lucid directly in Canvas after clicking the explore lucid button. But now it’s not, it will navigate me to the different tab. Please help to advise. Thank you.

Hi @Linhlee,

My apologies for the misunderstanding. I’ve confirmed with our internal teams that what you are experiencing is the intended behavior - upon clicking ‘Explore Lucid’, the lucid.app website should open in a new tab.

However, you can access Lucid directly within Canvas by embedding Lucid boards within assignments. For more information on that, I recommend checking out this Community post

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello Lucid Colleagues--I’ll join this thread to ask for help with a problem similar to what others have reported over the past months. We are building Lucidchart assignments in Canvas LMS for the first time, and on the instructor/designer side, everything looks good (e.g., embedding a Lucidchart template of our choice, so that every student opening the assignment will get their own copy). However, when I tested the assignment with a dummy student, the first-use steps brought the dummy student through the sign-up step but then to the same error page others have encountered. Here are the steps for the dummy student in screenshots:

Can you suggest some troubleshooting steps?

Thank you!

Hi @paulmorsink
Thank you for the reply! I am converting your post to a ticket so our support team can assist you!

I am running into the issue that these other people ran into months ago. Here is my error code I am a student trying to submit an assignment through the integrated tool I'm canvas. But when I hit "launch external tool" it I get this instead. I reached out to Canvas support who told me to reach out here.

Hey @Snbronstein,

Thanks for replying to this thread. I am looking internally into this issue right now. I will get back to you with an update.

Thank you for your patience.

Hey @Snbronstein ,

This error typically occurs when an assignment is copied from a different course. The Lucid integration does not currently support copying assignments from different courses into another. To fix this, your teacher will need to create a new assignment from scratch and select the same source document for submission. This should resolve the error.

I recommend reaching out to your teacher with this information and to verify whether or not the assignment was copied. Please let me know if this fixes the issue.

Thank you!
