Enter stopped working in Lucidchart

I’m in the middle of a flow chart and on a deadline, and the “enter” key just randomly stopped working. I’ve made no changes to the settings whatsoever. Instead of hitting Enter to drop down to the next line, I now have to hit Shift + Enter; that’s all I need, yet another step to slow me down.

Any suggestions? I have googled this for hours and have not found a solution. I must be the only person in the universe experiencing this problem.

@MCTX that definitely sounds frustrating, especially with a deadline. I don't think there's a setting in Lucidchart that changes Enter to Shift+Enter for text editing, so if it suddenly started happening mid-session, it may be a temporary editor or browser issue.

A few things I'd try:

  • Refresh the page and see if the behavior resets.
  • Open the document in an Incognito/Private window or another supported browser to see if the issue persists.
  • Test whether it happens in a brand-new document or only this specific one.
  • If you're using any browser extensions that modify keyboard shortcuts or text input, try temporarily disabling them.

If none of those help, could you let us know:

  • Which browser and operating system you're using?
  • Does this happen in every text box or only certain shapes?
  • Does the Enter key work normally elsewhere (for example, in another website or text editor)?

That information will help narrow down whether this is a browser issue or something specific to the document.

There must have been some weird issue with the browser, but it seems to have fixed itself. It would be nice, however, if there were some live tech support people we could chat/email/phone with. This reliance on community posts is a cop out on Lucid’s part.
