I have used the data linking feature extensively in the past, and have been using it on a diagram that I am actively working on. Beginning last week,  I began noticing that my LucidChart diagram would drop the links I’d created.  The last time this happened, I was able to restore a previous version of my LucidChart diagram and have the data linking restored as well.  Now I am encountering an issue where the data linking is lost in my older versions as well.

I am not aware of anything that changed in how I use the product that would have caused this, and I suspect it’s a bug.  I hope there’s a workaround/fix that can help me restore the work I’d done.

Hi @Chris Z.

Thanks for sharing the details of what you are running into. Data linking should remain intact once it is set up, so if your links are disappearing across both current and older versions, that is unusual.

The first thing to check is whether the original data source has changed. If your diagram is linked to a Google Sheet, Excel file, or another dataset, confirm that the file still exists in the same location, has the same name, and that you still have access permissions. Even small changes, like moving the file or adjusting its structure, can cause the connection to break.

It can also help to try re-linking your data within Lucid. To do this, go to the Data menu in your document and select Link Data to reconnect your source. If you would like a step-by-step guide, you can review this article: Link data to a Lucidchart document.

As you continue testing, it may help to narrow things down. Is the data linking issue only affecting this specific document, or are you seeing the same behavior across multiple diagrams in your account? That distinction will make it easier to identify whether this is a file-specific problem or something broader.
