I have been adding county flag emojis to my contacts in a Lucid organisation chart and since this morning they are missing and have a grey oval icon with a 1 inside. How can I restore the flags?

Hi @subbank64

Thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! I’m really sorry to hear your emojis suddenly disappeared from your org chart. Usually, when you see that grey oval icon, it means the browser is struggling to read the emoji properly.

To help me find the best fix, could you clarify a few details about how you’re adding the flags?

  • Were you pasting them manually as text, or are they being pulled from a data spreadsheet?
  • Where exactly are they located in the org chart? (e.g., inside a profile shape, next to a name, or in a specific field?)
  • If you’re comfortable, could you share a screenshot of how they look currently?

In the meantime, could you try these quick steps to see if the flags pop back up:

  • Could you try a hard refresh? Just hit Ctrl + F5 (or Cmd + Shift + R if you're on a Mac). It basically forces the browser to grab everything fresh instead of using old, cached data that might be stuck.

  • Would you mind checking in an incognito window? If the flags show up there, it’s usually a sign that one of your browser extensions is accidentally interfering with the icons.

  • If the chart is powered by a spreadsheet, it’s worth double-checking that the emojis still look right in the original file itself.

In case you are using the emojis for employee profile pictures..  If the emojis keep acting up, you might find it more reliable to use actual image files instead. You can learn more by reading this help center article

  • Bulk upload: Click the dotted outline of your org chart, head to the Layout tab on the right, and under Shape style, you’ll see an Upload photos option. If your image files are named after your employees, Lucid will match them up automatically!
  • Public links: You can also click a specific person's shape and paste a public image URL directly into the Shape style section.
  • Data import: If you’re using a Google Sheet or Excel to run your chart, you can actually include the image links right in your spreadsheet.

Let me know if any of that helps, and if you have any more questions.

Hi Alison, they seem to have come back now, I don;t know whether it was due to poor internet reception and that affected the browser? Works all the time now. Many thanks, Richard
