Canvas Integration Troubleshooting

Hey Lucid users -- if you are running into difficulty with our Canvas Integration there are a couple of things to look at:

  • Teachers can create an assignment using Lucidchart by navigating to the assignment section of a course creating a new assignment and in the content section selecting the Lucidchart icon. This will bring up your Lucidchart documents list for you to select a diagram. Please see the above article for more details on this.
  • Students can submit a Lucidchart diagram as an assignment by navigating to the assignment selecting submit assignment and navigating to the Lucidchart tab. This will bring up your Lucidchart documents list for you to select a diagram to submit.

If none of those tips help drop a comment below and include the following information:

  • A screenshot of the issue
  • A screenshot of any error messages or pop ups that appear
  • A screenshot of the associated Javascript Console output after reproducing the issue? You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl + Shift + J (if your computer is a Windows / Linux) OR Cmd + Opt + J (if your computer is a Mac).

I am having several issues this morning. We created a “master” course in Canvas a few months ago with several assignments using Lucid boards, not realizing they wouldn’t copy over into the live course (this is super disappointing and, honestly, will probably prevent us from using Lucid at all in the future). Our first issue this morning was that the live course opened and all of the assignments using Lucid aren’t working.

I am trying to fix the assignments and reconnect to the Lucid boards we had created. Whether I am in the original assignment, or in a new assignment, I am now getting this error message. Please advise. If this isn’t an easy fix, we will probably be downloading as PDFs and then disconnecting from Lucid entirely.

Thank you.

Hi @Kasey H, thank you for continuing this post and sorry to hear you are experiencing trouble with the Canvas integration. For more information on copying assignments into another course,  I recommend checking out this community post:

For the assignments not working, you mentioned ‘all assignments using Lucid’, is this happening to multiple courses or a specific one? If you haven’t already, would you mind also trying the following troubleshooting steps to help us narrow down the potential cause?

  • Try opening the documents in a private or incognito window.
  • Connect to a different network or disconnect from your VPN if applicable.
  • If possible, please try this in a different browser

Thank you for your help and patience. Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions!

@Leianne C  Thank you for your help.

None of those options worked. This is an issue that’s occurring with every assignment containing a Lucid document, and every student is experiencing it (they’re on multiple networks, browsers, etc.). This is happening in one specific course. We create “master” courses with all necessary content and assignments, and then we copy the master over into a “live” course that runs during the term. The live course is having the issue.

I also checked the community post you shared and there’s nothing there that would explain what’s happening.

I submitted a support ticket and they’re having to look at the Javascript Console output to troubleshoot now.

I am trying to add an lucid assignment in canvas.  I picked the submission type to be lucid and attached the assignment.   When myself or the students open the assignment we get the following error message.  Any thoughts on what is happening?

Thank you,

Tammy
