Hello - I have an org chart that I would like to create layers for so that I can “turn off” certain managers to view the org without distraction. Every time I highlight the group to be in a layer, when I right click I cannot see the move option.

It’s probably simple to fix, but I am a newbie!

Hi @Rebecca.F

To manage objects in Lucidchart, start by opening the Layers menu, located at the bottom-right of the canvas.

This will reveal the Layers panel, where you can add a new layer by clicking the "Add Layer" icon.

For more assistance - please navigate to the help article Add layers to a Lucidchart document – Lucid

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards

Thank you, I have tried this already, and I cannot see what I’m doing wrong. I have the add layers set up, but this is what I see when I right click to add to layers. More actions does not highlight as an option.

Is the issue because I have data linked?

Hi @Rebecca.F

I'm also attempting to identify the underlying issue and determine the root cause of the problem.

Working on the background to get this justified, will keep you posted shortly.

Regards

Hi @Rebecca.F Could you try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help us narrow down the potential cause? Could you also try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. These steps will help us eliminate that possibility. For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post (in English).

Is this occurring in all documents or just the one you are currently working on?

Hello,

It does not matter if I am incognito or not. I am not on a VPN either. I work from home :)

It happens in any version of the org chart document, but does not happen in a process document I have. This is why I’m wondering if it is possible to do layers when the org chart is tied to imported data. My process document has layers, but I made it from scratch.

Thanks for your help!

Hi @Rebecca.F, Thank you for trying an incognito window. Can you please send a temporary Support PIN for this document? This will allow me to take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing. For more information on generating a Support PIN, check out this Help Center article.

Hi @Rebecca.F

Thank you for providing that support pin. It looks like on a Team account, you will not have the options to send a shape to a layer by right clicking on the shape. Team accounts only have the option in Org charts to send their top shape to a layer.

I’m checking with our team to check that this is the intended behavior of this feature. I will get back to you once I have an update!

Hi @Rebecca.F

Thank you for your patience. I heard back from our team and it looks like this actually a bug in our system. I have reported this to our development team. I apologize for any disruption this may cause, and I will update this thread with any new information about a fix. Please follow along on this thread for updates, and post any additional questions or concerns below.

Hi @Kelsey Gaag Any update?

@Rebecca.F, Thanks for following up! I don’t have any updates at this time or timeline for a fix. I apologize for the inconvenience.  As a workaround in the meantime you could utilize the collapse feature on Org Charts. See more details about this feature in the Community post below:
