Hi @Rob from Redgate
Smart containers in have layering restrictions because they function as special grouped elements. You cannot assign the container itself to a layer, only the objects inside it. If the layering option is greyed out or missing, ensure each container is unlocked first. To mitigate, you can use standard container shapes from the Flowchart library, which support multi-level grouping and freer layer control. This enables better organization where smart containers native layering is limited.
Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards
Thanks Humas, a shame you cannot use the smart containers as the ability to quickly add objects (I am using to track tasts) is very handy. But I cannot see how to do this with regular containers. I have just moved them to a spearate tab instead.
Cheers!
Hi @Rob from Redgate ,
Humas is correct, smart containers have layering restrictions because of the way they function as grouped elements. At present, only the objects inside the container can be layered, not the container itself.
Moving them to a separate tab, as you mentioned, is a solid workaround if layering is essential. Another option some teams use is recreating the setup with standard containers, which provide more flexibility with layering, though they don’t have the same “smart” behavior.
