It'd be great to get this feature or be able to add a background color to the text box that comes with shapes. Otherwise we get into this situation that takes away from the readability of the text especially when space is limited:

Hi @andres n thanks for posting in the community! Unfortunately it's not currently possible to change the background colour / highlight text attached to shapes in Lucidchart. However we're always looking for ways to improve Lucidchart and your feedback is the best way for us to do that. Would you mind adding your idea to our feature request form? Ideas submitted to this form are passed on to the product development team for their consideration.

As a workaround you could add a small shape to change the connection point so that it avoids the text. For more information please see this community post.

Thanks for your request and I apologize for any inconvenience this causes you.

Any update on this specific topic? I have users who would like to highlight just a few words within a text block in Lucidchart. Is highlighting text an option yet?

Highlighting text is still not really an option. There is a workaround shown in this gif. It won’t keep the highlight in the right spot if the text in the box changes.

There is a new way to request features and give feedback in this new community. You can follow these instructions to get the request in front of Lucid’s product managers.
