Hi @PAW,
Thanks for posting in the Lucid Community and for sharing your perspective! I recognize how this would impact your workflow.
Regarding your concerns about data ownership and export formats, I wanted to provide some clarity on how Lucid approaches these requirements:
- Lucid is committed to compliance with the EU Data Act. As a "data processing service provider," we recognize our responsibility to ensure data portability and remove barriers for customers who may choose to switch providers. You can find our official statement and breakdown of these procedures in this Help Center Article.
-
Our current SVG export renders text as vector paths to ensure that diagrams appear exactly the same regardless of the fonts installed on a viewer's device. We recognize that this limits direct text editing.
-
For structured and machine-readable data, we provide an alternative export that captures the functional content of your diagrams:
-
The CSV of shape data export provides a solution for this by generating a file that includes all shape names and text fields as editable text strings.
-
You can find instructions for these formats here: Export your Lucid Document.
We are very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. If you’re willing to share, we’d love to hear more details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience within this thread. Please first search the Product Feedback section of this community (with the filter Topic Type = Idea) to see if it’s already been submitted. If no one has submitted this idea yet, please create one of your own and be sure to include details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience. This will also allow other users with similar requests to discover and upvote it, then add details of their own.
