Build a reusable shape for a technical diagram in Lucidchart

​@Geert Ceulemans, it sounds like you’re trying to build a reusable grouped object for creating a technical diagram in Lucidchart. Here are the steps I’d recommend.

1. Create the Base Shape: Insert a rectangle and set its aspect ratio to 16:9 then lock aspect ratio in the properties panel. Resize as needed.
2. Add the Image: Drag & drop an image inside the rectangle. Set it to “Fit inside shape” or manually resize so it sits nicely within the top portion.
3. Add the Text Field: Draw a smaller text box aligned at the bottom of the rectangle to serve as the editable label (e.g., "Amplifier", "Speaker L", etc.).
4. Group Them: Group the rectangle + image + text box into one unit.
5. Enable Connectors: Ensure the grouped object has connection points. In Lucidchart, grouped objects still allow connector arrows to attach to their edges. You can also add custom connection points if you want cables/wires to connect at specific spots (like speaker outputs or inputs).
6. Save to Your Library: Right-click the grouped object → Add to Custom Shape Library. Drag in your “device blocks” for reuse in technical diagrams.
7. Example Workflow: Create a device block for an Amplifier. Duplicate the block for the left speaker and right speaker. Use arrows/connectors to show how the amplifier connects to each speaker.
8. Export to PowerPoint: Lucid has either recently been updated or will recently be updated so that you can export single objects to PowerPoint without having to put them on separate pages.
