Bug: Unable to enter edit mode, stuck in selection mode

Since yesterday, we've had a problem that renders LucidChart unusable: when you create a text box (for example) and type text containing a space, it becomes impossible to exit the text box. Pressing Esc does nothing. Double-clicking elsewhere creates another text box, but you're still in selection mode, not editing mode.

The only solution is to refresh the page... making it impossible to work.
This problem has existed since yesterday on all the company computers that use it.

To help us narrow down the cause, could you please try/answer the following:

  • Have you recently added any browser extensions?
  • Try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)

For anyone else running into this, here are some quick things to try:

  • Try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help narrow down the potential cause. For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post.
  • See if the issue persists in a different web browser.
  • If the problem is limited to one document, try copying and pasting the content into a fresh document.
