So this is easily reproduceable, I created a sample test document for this.

Have ungrouped elements: PNG export is fine
Have grouped elements: PNG export will include extraneous whitespace (bug)
Please correct this as this impacts Lucidchart daily usage.

Hi @Sebastien Ruchet, I’m sorry that you’re having trouble exporting a Lucidchart document with grouped elements as a PNG file. Thank you for proactively providing a Support PIN of your test document!
After testing on my documents and with your test document, I’m unable to reproduce this issue. Can you confirm if selecting ‘Crop to content’ as shown below solves this for you?If ‘Do not crop’ is selected in this drop down, that may explain why you may see extra white space. Does the image below display what you are hoping to see on your end?
If selecting Crop to content does not work for you, can you please try the steps below?
Could you try opening your document in a private or incognito window to help us narrow down the potential cause? For help with opening an incognito window, please see this community post.
Could you also try connecting to a different network or disconnecting from your VPN (if applicable)? Sometimes account performance issues can be related to internet security/speed or browser issues. These steps will help us eliminate that possibility.
Can you please provide me with a screenshot or a screen recording of your view?
Can you provide a screenshot of the associated Javascript Console output after reproducing the issue? You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+J (if your computer is a Windows/Linux) OR Cmd+Opt+J (if your computer is a Mac)
Thank you in advance for your patience and help here as I continue investigating. Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns.
Hello,
I confirm that “crop to content” is selected in both cases.
When the two shapes are not grouped with their text element, the export is fine:
When (on the other tab) each text box is grouped with the shape positioned within, the export is bugged:
The export included here was done this time without VPN in InPrivate mode (Edge), without change on the result.
In both exports (“fine” & “bugged”), the preview display is correct: it is the output file that features this bug.
You were right to ask for the console output as there is a difference.
Cleared console, result after “fine” export:
Cleared console, result after “bugged” export:
So the culprit might be in your pdf service call.
Thank you for investigating! I use Lucid daily in my cloud architecture job with satisfaction, aside from that, and I can’t really have a paint cropping step in my workflow.
Sebastien
Hi @Sebastien Ruchet, thank you for following up here and providing those additional details to help us take a closer look! I sincerely apologize for the delay in response as I was out of office for the holidays.
I can certainly understand how this issue would impact your workflow. I am checking internally and I believeyou have correctly identified this as a bug. I am reporting this to our development team. I apologize for any disruption this may cause, and I will update this thread with any new information about a fix.
As a potential workaround in the meantime, I would suggest right-clicking on the grouped shapes that you’d like to export. Then select Export selection and select PNG. This seems to solve the issue on my end.
I am encountering your same problem, as shown below, when I select File > Export > PNG.
The issue then seems to be resolved, as shown below, when I right-click on the grouped shapes > select Export selection > PNG.
If the above workaround doesn’t work for you, please let me know. Thank you for your continued patience as our team investigates! Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thank you very much @Ambar D !
The fixing of this is all I really wish for. Thank you for the workaround in the meantime.
Happy new year to you!
Sebastien
