I notice in a recent update the new page button has been removed when creating a blank document - it still persists in older docs that have previously had new pages created.
The only way to add a new page is through the insert→ new page menu at the top which is cumbersome.
Unclear if this is a bug or intended - either way it is very annoying. Can you confirm if this is intentional?
