I have a predefined background shape, is there a way to add 2 text fields to this shape that are locked onto the shape, without grouping these?

We have to randomly place this icon a few 100 times to a lucid, and move these around. Constantly selecting the shape, text fields and then moving them around is cumbersome. Adding them to a single group is a workaround, but this requires extra clicking and we want to avoid that.

Is there a way to predefine the text locations?

Hi @Matias

We have a similar idea. Could you review and confirm? This will help us find the best spot for your current use case.

Move shape text box to different location around shape in Lucidchart | Community

In both scenarios, the objective is to optimize text field management, eliminating the need for workaround solutions such as grouping.

The primary aim is to minimize manual adjustments and clicks when positioning or relocating text in relation to shapes.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards

Hi @Matias, thank you for posting in the community! Unfortunately there isn’t a way to attach another text box to a shape without grouping, or move the text box of a shape to another location.

However, there is a keyboard shortcut for grouping/ungrouping which could help make that process easier.
Group: Cmd + G / Ctrl + G

Ungroup: Shift + Cmd + G / Shift + Ctrl + G
