Currently to create process guides for personnel to follow, we use a combination of Word and Visio. Word for the low level working instructions and Visio to create the process flow of the particular process or procedure to be followed, this is added as an object into a word document.

Is it possible to do the same but with Lucid? I’ve tried inserting a Lucid drawing via the toolbar into a google doc and it keeps coming up with an error.

If successful and I wanted to convert back into a word doc what does the Lucid chart appear as on the file?

Can the LucidChart be amended once placed in the file or do you have to reinsert it every time a change needs to be made?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi @Jachow, thank you for your post! That is indeed possible with Lucid using the Google Docs add-on or the Microsoft Word add-in.

If you export a Google Doc as a Word file, the inserted diagram will appear as an image in the file. There is also an option to click ‘Update images’ to reflect any changes that were made to your Lucidchart document without needing to reinsert.

You mentioned you are seeing an error when trying the add-on, would you mind sharing a screenshot of the error? If you haven’t already I would recommend trying the add-on in a private or incognito window to see if that helps improve the experience.

I hope this helps! Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Leianne,

Thanks for getting back to me with such an informative response!

I’ve attempted to use an incognito window and no joy, i’m getting the same error:

Is it perhaps something to do with the permissions for Lucid and my companies set up with the Google suite??

Thanks again!

Hi @Jachow, thanks for sharing the screenshot! Would you mind enabling 3rd party cookies and then trying again? Please take a look at this article for information on how to do this.

If that doesn’t work I would recommend revoking Lucidchart's access to your Google account and re-authenticating. Look for the application titled ‘Lucidchart’ with the orange logo. You can find more information about this in this article from Google.

Hope this helps. Please let me know you still experience trouble with this or if you have any questions!
