We are excited to share new updates to the Lucid API that provide deeper programmatic control over your cloud visualizations. These enhancements are designed to help developers and architects automate a source of truth for their cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

What’s New?
We’ve introduced endpoints that allow you to fetch essential metadata for building and organizing cloud models. With these new endpoints you can do the following:

  • Programmatically retrieve a full list of AWS regions supported by Lucid Cloud for validating your multi-region deployment scripts and ensuring your automated diagrams cover your global footprint.
  • Pull a comprehensive list of supported view templates for AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. View Templates are the blueprints of your diagrams that  allow you to instantly switch between different architectural perspectives, like security group views, VPC layouts, or resource-specific summaries.

Why This Matters for Developers
With these metadata layers through Lucid's API, you can now build more robust integrations that:

  1. Validate Environments: Check if your specific cloud regions are ready for visualization before triggering a model import.
  2. Standardize Views: Ensure that every team in your organization is using the same approved View Templates, maintaining consistency across thousands of diagrams.
  3. Scale Automation: Reduce manual setup in the Lucid UI by pre-fetching the necessary configurations to build dynamic, data-backed models.

These updates represent our continued commitment to making Lucid a truly open and programmable visual source of truth for your technical stackWe actively use community feedback to improve the Lucid developer experience. Have an idea? Let us know in product feedback..
