Zoom in and out of the canvas in smaller increments
When I am in Lucidchart I often need a little bit smaller or larger view of my data. If I use the Zoom controls in the app the jump is too large like a 30% jump. If I use my scroll wheel and the space bar it's the same thing.
How can I zoom in and out in perhaps 5% increments?

Hey Scott
Thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! The best way to zoom in smaller increments would indeed be to use your scroll wheel and space bar. If you scroll slow enough you can actually zoom in at 1% increments at a time. If you have a laptop with a trackpad you can also zoom using the pinching motion which can also be utilized in 1% increments.
Hope this helps--let me know if you continue to have trouble I'd be happy to take a "closer" look š That one was too good to pass up. Cheers friend! š»
Thanks. Nothing I do eliminates scrolling at less than 25%. Also can I do this by manual choice typing in a zoom % in the lower right view of my app?
The laptop option is not feasible for me based on my setup.
Hey Scott
Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately this feature is not available however I love the idea--I have passed your thoughts along to our dev team to consider!
Thank you so much for your idea and the opportunity for us to help make your work easier--firm handshakes š¤
Scott - you are lucky - my zoom increment is 109%! If I start at 100% and zoom out it goes to 16% and then jumps up to 125%! It won't revert to 100%.. MAJOR bug.
I partly wonder if the zoom % might be a function of the mouse zoom settings. I believe there are settings for most mice that you can change the scroll length/amount. I haven't looked into that. But I also know that I had set my scroll setting to align with my reading and scrolling in email web docs etc. So it would be useless to keep changing the mouse settings. It would be ideal if Lucid would allow for a better zoom range in the app.
In Lucidchart you should be able to zoom to content reset your zoom or input a custom zoom percentage manually by clicking on your current zoom percentage:

Thanks Coumba. I wasn't aware I could just type in a number. That is very helpful indeed.
On the down side my clicking on the + or - icon is a 25% range/change. so it goes from 75% to 50% to 25%. If there's a way to change those settings that would be great.
Thanks again!
Hi Scott
The possibility to manually input a number was likely implemented after your initial message dated February this year.
Regarding using the + and - signs to zoom in and out - the increments are preset and at this time it not possible to amend them. I'm sorry for the inconvenience!
Is there any update on this? Iām currently facing the same issue, and manually typing in a new number is very bad for the flow of whiteboarding when you just want to take a step back, then zoom back in somewhere else. Iād love 5%, or even 10% increments, 25% is just too harsh.
Hi ā@Joran Dox, thanks so much for adding to this thread!
Iām curious if you areĀ exclusively using the zoom in/zoom out buttons on screen shown below? Or are you using a trackpad, a mouse? I think understanding what you are using to scroll around the canvas will help determine if there are other options to help.
Weāre also very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. Just tried on a trackpad and there it works fine, really allowing to zoom smoothly by the single percentages (though suddenly I needed to hold ctrl to actually zoom, instead of just scrolling). I rarely use my trackpad though, and usually am plugged in to an external screen, mouse, keyboard, etc. When using my mouse scrollwheel, the zoom buttons at the bottom right (like in the screenshot you added), or ctrl+/ctrl- on the keyboard, they all jump in 25% increments.
Ā
Thanks for taking a look at this!
Hi ā@Joran Dox, thank you for your response! I think it may be helpful if you tested the various settings below to see if adjusting these helps!Ā
Within yourĀ document/board settings, under zoom, I would recommend toggling on the āanimated zoomāĀ if itās not on already. You can also adjust the speed and step size of your zoom. Since you most often use a mouse scroll wheel, adjusting the step size will determine how far each scroll of the wheel zooms you in or out.
Ā
Iād also recommend double-checking that your navigation mode is correctly setĀ to Mouse, Trackpad, or Auto for the best experience!
To adjust thisĀ from within a Lucidchart or Lucidspark document, locate the Mini Map on the bottom right hand corner > click Navigation mode > select your preferred setting >Ā click Save.
Ā
I hope this helps! Please let me know if youāre still having trouble or if you have any more questions.
Aha, to save cpu usage I had turned off animations, and Iāve discovered a weird quirk now: I can turn it on, change the step size, then turn it off again, and it works! Itās very surprising that a greyed out setting that you canāt change has effect š
Iād suggest to have someone take a look at that, but for me this is solved/worked around.
Ā
Thanks, ā@Ambar DĀ !
Oh interesting ā@Joran DoxĀ , thank you for pointing that out! Iāll definitely raise that with the proper team.Ā
I am happy to hear that this is resolved for you though! Please let me know if you encounter further problems here and Iād be happy to take another look!Ā
