I'm attempting to import a Visio diagram (with layers) into Lucid Chart.  The import is successful however none of the layers are importing.  Is this supported in Lucid Chart?

Hi Matt thanks for your post! Unfortunately Lucidchart currently is unable to import Visio layers due to significant code differences between the layers features in Lucidchart and Visio. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this causes. If this something you would like to see please feel free to add your idea to this feature request form. Feedback submitted in this form goes to our Product development team for consideration.

Is it still the case that LucidChart does not import Visio layers? Thanks.

Hi @markVLC, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, importing Visio layers is not currently supported in Lucid. However, we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. If you’re willing to share, we’d love to hear more details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience within this thread. I’ve also converted this post to an idea so that it’s visible to others within the Product Feedback section of the community - from here, they can upvote it and add details of their own.

Finally, for more information on how Lucid manages feedback via this community, take a look at this post:

Thank you for sharing your feedback in the community! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the quick response. I work in IT and for the most part, my colleagues will be unaffected with layers not transferring from Visio.

I create floor maps for our home office, adding in any device that connects to our network like room schedulers, displays, wired workstations, access points, etc. Very valuable is the ability to place all similar devices on a layer and toggle on and off.

From my initial dive in Lucidchart layers, most disappointing is the inability to use hotspots for imported elements. I do not have time to re-create all the elements. The best I can hope for is over time to create layers and assign the elements. One of our floors contains over 150 elements that represent network connected devices.

Thanks Ambar.

I think overall LucidChart will be an improvement over Visio. To put it mildly,  Microsoft support for Visio was and is lacking. I am encouraged I received such a quick response from the community.
