Image search platform in Lucid

My suggestion is to bring back the images search. It appears to be removed and replaced with a advertisement for “streamline” Now I have to search and import where it used to be built in. Instead I get a useless free collection from streamline and of course they want you to subscribe for a pro edition. Why would there be advertisements for this terrible product within something I already pay for? What are you doing?

Hi @jdesgarennes,

Thank you for posting in the community! Currently our image search feature has been temporarily disabled, it has not been removed and is not available currently in any subscription level. We're working to restore this feature as soon as possible.

To help you continue your work and move forward in the best way possible, you can still add your own images to your documents. If you're having trouble with images in Lucid, please check out this article in our Help Center. We appreciate your patience as we work towards a resolution and are happy to assist with any further questions or concerns you may have.

Thanks for the update. I can confirm that the image search feature has been restored, however I've noticed it's now using a different search provider. Unfortunately, the new provider offers significantly more limited functionality compared to the previous one, which has negatively impacted our workflows.

The previous image search was much more comprehensive and delivered better results. Given that we're paying a premium for this product, it's concerning if this change was made as a cost-cutting measure at the expense of functionality that users have come to rely on.

Could you please provide clarification on:

  1. Whether there are plans to improve the current search capabilities
  2. If the previous provider might be restored, or
  3. Any timeline for enhancements to the current search functionality

I appreciate that you've worked to restore the feature, but the reduced functionality compared to what was available before makes it significantly less valuable for users who depend on the image search capabilities for their daily work.

Hi,

The image search change is a massive degradation so I am also looking for an answer to this as I start considering moving to another platform.

It cannot even give me simple company logos for my diagrams

Hi @tkav and @Tgibbons

Here is the update! Lucid’s previous image search provider, Bing Search API, has been retired and so it has been replaced it with a new provider, Pexels. We don't have immediate plans to make additional changes to this feature, but as always our teams will take customer feedback into consideration. As a workaround, we continue to support uploading and copy/pasting images into the canvas, so users can use whatever method they choose for finding those images.

I’ve converted this post to an idea so that it’s visible to others within the Product Feedback section of the community - from here, they can upvote it and add details of their own. For more information on how Lucid manages feedback via this community, take a look at this post:

I am sad to hear there are no plans to fix this. I have used this feature for years for things like company/product logos. How is a usable feature now? Here is what I get with “lucidchart logo”.

This new image search provider is literally unusable for even the most basic of tasks of finding company logos or pictures of common items. This is an unacceptable change for a premium product.

This is an unbelievably poor product decision from Lucidchart that it is practically insulting to users of this feature.
