Hi
Lucidchart doesn’t currently support PlantUML, but you can still create UML diagrams using our built-in shape libraries and markup tools. If you’re looking for a code-based approach, Lucidchart supports Mermaid code, which might be a good alternative.
You can find more details on Mermaid support here: Diagram as code with Mermaid in Lucidchart.
Let us know how it works for you or if you need any guidance!
Please support PlantUML rendering. You can initially just integrate their binaries into your diagrams and show the rendered diagram. That would be a very handy tool to be able to have a PlantUML diagram on a LucidChart doc tab. Supporting conversion of PlantUML syntax into Lucid Objects can be something for the future.
Hi
Finally, for more information on how Lucid manages feedback via this community, take a look at this post:
Thank you for sharing your feedback and ideas in the community. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Until there is a solution from LucidChart, I create the diagram in drawio and then import the diagram as a photo into LucidChart.
Thanks for the update.
The ask is that I would like to keep all of my diagrams in LucidChart (from a diagram repository perspective). I’m already handling the access control in LucidChart, so it is a hassle to have to put my PlantUML rendered diagrams into another repository and have diagrams in 2 different places and handle access control in 2 places. Tons of applications have PlantUML plugins (that handle PlantUML rendering). If I could have a diagram tab that has PlantUML syntax and where a LucidChart has a PlantUML plugin that can convert that syntax into a rendered diagram (can be presented as an image), then I can have all of my diagrams in one place (in LucidChart).
The reality is that PlantUML is awesome for creating things like sequence charts and I (and many others) will use the best tool for the job. For an Architecture Context Diagram, LucidChart is awesome. For creating a sequence diagram, PlantUML is the best tool, in my opinion. So, I want the best of these worlds available in my favorite overall tool - LucidChart. Leianne, let me know if you have questions.
