Granular controls for Team access

When a Team is open, have the ability to set the level of access a new user has when they join the team.  At the moment it is set by default to ‘Edit and Share’ so have the ability at account level (or preferably at Team level) to default new users to whatever the admin sets this as.

Hi @bod1611, thanks for sharing this idea in the Lucid Community!

To make sure I understand correctly: are you asking for a account or team-level setting that sets a default permission level whenever a user self-joins an open Team Hub?

Currently, when adding members manually via Manage team members, you can choose their role before adding them (as shown below and in this Help Center article). However, it sounds like you'd like to customize the default role (currently 'Edit and share') when users join on their own. Could you confirm if that's what you have in mind?

Hi Sylvia, that’s exactly the case.  We have people joining and leaving all of the time so instead of an Admin function adding them to Teams with the appropriate access levels which would be an overhead, i’d like to restrict access when they first join an existing ‘Open’ team to give further access control to the person in charge of that Team.   That would allow a new user a kind of self serve in selecting the Teams they want access to but not risk edit access where it shouldn’t be granted.
