I want to reorganize the order of the shapes in my custom shape library. I also want to change some of their names. How do I do that?
Hey Jared
Thank you for posting in the Community!
To reorganize and rename shapes:
- Click on the “+ Shapes” button at the bottom in the left Toolbox.
- Find and select your custom library under the “Custom” category.
- Right-click on a shape to reorganize and rename the shape.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you need anymore assistance. Happy diagramming!
Right-clicking doesn't let you reorganize the order IN the custom library. The Move option pulls up a list to move between libraries but not change the order. The way the library is organized by default makes zero sense. It's not based on file names from what I can tell and not being able to sort the shapes is a major misstep. See the photo below. That's how Lucidchart chose to sort these by default and I can't rearrange from what I can see.
I was coming here to post this exact question (or i guess now a feature request) - i have several very large shape libraries and need to re-organize them a bit. (ie mainly move my most frequently used shapes up to the top).
it seems only option currently is to do what Megan W described as in that screen you can drag the shape around to re-organize. This is a nice feature but does not work well when you have large shape libraries . (i have some shape libraries ive successfully imported from Visio into lucid that have 100s of shape one has 500+ (so dragging one shape at a time all the way to the top really does not work)
ideally we need a page to manage your shape library where you can select multiple shapes and drag/re-organize them. or another option- right click shape and have a Move to Top move to bottom action.
(or an ability to set a shape lib to sort by various criteria; ie: sort by- Date added date last used Alphabetical size ect
tks
