Are we still not able to export .svg files with editable text? (I.E. text will always convert to path)

I see this question was asked 2.5 years ago just want to verify that we haven't seen an update.

Thanks

Hey Michael

Thank you for posting in the Lucid Community. That is correct our .svg file export does not allow for editable text once downloaded. You could however add text to the image once uploaded into another software.

Hope this helps clarify--let me know if there are any other questions!

Hi Philip,

What “other software" should we use to insert text?

I made 78 diagrams containing a lot of text and now ISO is rejecting all these lucid SVG's.

I hope someone here can help me. I really don't know how to fix this and your SVG isnt really svg as i understand it now?

thanks,

Arne

Hi @Arne B ,

Thanks for following up in the Community.

To confirm, Lucid’s SVG export currently renders all text as vector paths, which unfortunately makes the files incompatible with certain ISO submission standards. While we don’t yet support exporting SVGs with live text, tools like Inkscape (free) or Adobe Illustrator (paid) can be used to open the files and manually reinsert real text if needed.

I know that’s a time-consuming workaround, especially with the volume of diagrams you've created, and I’ve passed your feedback along to our internal teams as well. I’d also encourage you to upvote or comment on this feature idea SVG export with editable text so your use case is visible to the product team and others in the community.

Thank you for your time!
