Desktop App for Lucidchart

Absolutely agree. I HATE using browser-based apps. For one thing, like the person above I often have to work offline. And I’d love to have this available on my ipad as well

Hi i agree with above people. i work in the public sector and I cant load certain data into Lucid, while i like this program very much.

The large healthcare company I work for as a business analyst recently switched over to Lucid from Microsoft Visio. While there are many great features and improvements over Visio, the fact is that the Desktop Visio version offers significant features that provide significant workflow efficiency and reliability benefits: 

1. EFFICIENCY/REDUNDANCY: Being able to embed the Visio diagrams as an object into Word Documents allowed for a) portability, b) redundancy (I could save multiple versions of a Word doc, and therefore versions of the diagrams), c) very fast real-time creating, editing of diagrams which is very important if you have 50 people on a call, many who are highly-paid physicians or executive stakeholders. (note, I may have up to 30 or 40 diagrams in one Word document). I don’t have time to wait for a browser to open up, make edits, then manually sync the document to make sure it’s got the right diagram.    
2. RELIABILITY: I tried embedding links to the online versions of my Lucid diagrams into my Word documents. For some reason, these links appear to have gotten corrupted and the diagrams in the Word document got out of order and I ended up spending hours trying to troubleshoot and fix it. After this, I didn’t trust the links, and the workflow was too clunky in trying to sync the diagrams, so I converted these back to Visio and my tried-and-true workflow - which by the way, the export of Lucid documents doesn’t exactly create a one-to-one match with the original Visio files, so that took days to fix as well. I brought these issues up to some Lucid support people who were assigned to us, but I never heard back from them. 
3. SHARING AND FUTURE-PROOFING: Even though you can share the access to the online version of the diagrams, again, having the ability to embed the diagrams in a Word document ensures that anyone in the future, should the online version be taken down at some point, OR the owner forgot to open full access for access/editing by anybody in the future (which may result in unintended changes by unauthorized people). 

Please seriously consider a desktop version of Lucid that provides the embedding and editing of Lucid diagram objects into MS Word documents like Visio does. Please feel free to reach out to my email address if you have any questions.

I used to be able to use LucidChart via Mac’s web app functionality and have it on my dock as a standalone “app”. However something changed and now I’m unable to use the web app because it cannot get past the login flow without switching over to Safari. Even after completing the log in on safari and trying to open the page in the LucidChart web app, it continues to display the login page. Please fix this, it used to work

I used Webcatalog (https://desktop.webcatalog.io/en/download/windows) to install a desktop version of Lucid(charts).
