Our team recently adopted the data-linking feature, which has been incredibly useful for importing spreadsheets and linking data to shapes. However, a few UX adjustments would make a significant difference in usability:
-
Scrolling: The scrolling function is difficult to control, particularly in larger spreadsheets. Sudden jumps to the edge or bottom make navigation frustrating, especially when scrolling horizontally.
-
Renaming Columns: After importing, column names are locked, which can be inconvenient. The ability to rename columns would offer much-needed flexibility.
-
Editing Cells: Editing a cell currently requires a double-click, which slows down workflows. A single-click edit feature would be much more intuitive and efficient.
-
Column Width Persistence: Column widths reset every time the spreadsheet is reopened, requiring frequent adjustments. Retaining these settings between sessions, as seen in programs like Excel or Google Sheets, would be a time-saver.
-
Formatting Options: The current lack of formatting features limits functionality. Options for basic formatting, like text wrapping, would greatly enhance readability and organization.
-
Link Tracking: Links gray out when not on the relevant tab, making it hard to track where an item is linked. It would be beneficial if a list of linked tabs could be displayed for easy reference.
