Can I disable the toolbar in Lucidspark?

I find the popup formatting toolbar behavior to be very frustrating.  It always seems to know what I want to click on next and ensures it’s right on top of that object, obscuring it from view and clicks.

I’ve developed the habit of hitting ESC every time I click on something just to hide the popup formatting bar.  Click, ESC…click, ESC...click, ESC...over and over.

More often I’m trying to move things around to organize my thoughts, not trying to format every object I click on.

I wish I could temporarily disable the toolbar, or drag it somewhere else where it would stay.  Could not find anything related to this in current Lucid docs.

Hi @Paul No The Other Paul

There are limitations to directly disable / permanently hide the formatting toolbar per your ask.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards

Ugh.  Appreciate the kind “No”.  Am I the only one this annoys?  I can’t possibly be.

I’m in the same boat.  If you’re doing a demonstration in lucid spark where you just want to move things around, yes I too would like to disable the formatting toolbar.

Hi @blevitt

Thank you for your reply! Currently there is not a way to disable the toolbar. However, as a workaround you do one of the following:

  • Share the document with Comment or View access only. This will close the left panel and the person reviewing the document can look at the document. You can give comment access if you would like to utilize this feature during a demonstration.
  • Publish the document. This is similar to the view only option, the difference here is that this will be available to people without Lucid accounts. You can publish the document and navigate to the generated link. This will allow you to navigate around your document during a presentation without toolbars.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Sorry for the delay.  I’d like to use lucid spark for interactively teaching sports.  You can eliminate much of the context menu by “locking” things like style and content but some of the bar still pops up.  If there was an option to disable this context menu it would be perfect:

Thank you @blevitt for adding to this post with that additional context. I can certainly understand why this would be helpful.
