Bring back the Lucid file menu

Hi ​@BrettS thank you for this feedback, and I am sorry for the frustration caused. I certainly understand why this is an important feature. Detailed comments like yours, along with upvoting this post, are great ways of showing your support for this to be implemented. 

Please bring back the Format toolbar

Not having this had added significant time and hassle to my work every time I used LucidCharts.

Yes bring back option for TOP MENU BAR.  The pull down menu is confusing and incomplete...

I agree. I am not sure who thought this was a good idea. I use this every day and have caused so many companies to start this product, and I hate this change. It is not helpful. Please revert back to the original design.

Bring back the formatting toolbar! 

Yes - PLEASE bring back and option to restore the formatting bar - what took me seconds to achieve previously now involves multiple varied steps and makes using the system very unattractive.  I’m currently looking at alternative products as, what was a wonderfully intuitive interface is now a clunky system that reminds me of early version of windows.  Ironically, even this comment box has a formatting bar at the top of it because having that just makes sense...

I want to provide my feedback to the toolbar changes to this thread as well, my feedback also applies to the file menu that is being discussed.

I have recently started using Lucid Chart and really enjoyed it, however discovering that the toolbar has been removed is impacting my workflow due to the following reasons:

1. Editing and manipulating objects now takes up more screen space then previously:
   With the toolbar at the top, I had all the options in an easy to access area.
2. More clicks required to complete the same task as previously.
   What could have been completed a 1-2 clicks with the toolbar, is now taking me more clicks due to needing to use two toolbars in different locations.
3. The new format is not intuitive, especially without proper notice (even a brief tutorial).
   I am managing a large complex network design with lucid and it was very disorienting trying to find every thing again.
4. New floating toolbar is not effective if dealing with large selections [still moving the floating tool bar to the top or bottom of the page due to it causing obstruction., which is defeating the purpose of this change]
5. Basic usability ignored.
   Excluding options to lock and/or select toolbars is a problem, as it should be an option to allow the user reorient the their page to best fit the user’s work profile.
   The ability to have tool bars and even change their layout position is an option that is allowed by your competitors.
6. Lack of communication.
   A change of this magnitude needs to be communicated clearly.
   Opening a program with an unannounced UI change is not providing any good will to the community.

I am not saying that this change is bad, however some of the design decisions are questionable and appear to be made by those who are not using Lucid Charts as a daily driver.

I made the switch to Lucid Chart because of a colleague of mine was using it and found alot better than the main competitor for my tasks.

However, it is a little unsettling that this UI changes was implemented without prior notice or the option to revert.

Long time users, came back to do more work and now the shape properties are no longer at top of canvas, easy to access and quick to use, they are in a more “traditional” side-bar to the right that is way less convenient or quick to use. Its like going back to clunky old drawing programs. Pitty to see such a great product degrading like this, its like they don’t care why customers use this product in the first place, ease of use and productivity. they take those two things away I might as well go back to Visio. What a joke. 

Hello, I have to agree with ​@Ari . Was using the software for ~4 years now, came back and paid for another month because I was expecting to use Lucidchart for some projects, only to see that the whole toolbar was missing, stuffed in a hamburger menu. Might seem like a small change but it really messes up with the workflow and productivity.

The reception is disappointing; it’s been a year with many complaints with what looks like no change. I used to wholeheartedly support and recommend Lucidchart for other eager diagrammers, will no longer be the case moving forward until you can address the problems of your paying customers.
