Allow "change shape" for all shape types

Without the ability to change shapes from one to another, it seems almost pointless to import maps from other tools (e.g. Visio) if you have to manually change all the shapes. 

In my case, I have deprecated process maps in Visio and am trying to transfer them to Lucid and comply with BPMN 2.0. Even if I import the map, there’s no easy way to change the imported shapes to BPMN shapes -- I might as well recreate the map from scratch. This costs a ton of unnecessary time.

It’s kind of surprising this feature isn’t implemented for BPMN shapes considering there is considerable BPMN learning content on the Lucid website.

I’m in agreement with Zach and in a very similar boat.  We want people to standardize on BPMN 2.0 and if we can’t make it easy to transition from existing shapes to BPMN 2.0 shapes its going to be a difficult sell.  

Hi ​@Zach Fields and ​@Astrid_G, thank you both for adding your detailed feedback to this thread. I can certainly understand why this feature is important. Our product development teams are regularly reviewing feedback within this space of the community as they continue to research new features and product enhancements. 

Please consider when importing whether you can allow “closest Flowchart type” on import.  My import of a clear drawing in a pdf is almost useless as I cannot change the shape and cannot change the background color of the shape.

I think there may be a HUGE market out there to scan in a hand drawn sketch and make it into Flowchart shapes!!!

I want to change shape from text (just a plain label) to a shape with that text in the shape. 

For example, I may start out just adding a text label but then later decide that I want a rounded rectangle and that text at the top middle of it. Pretty much treat text label as one of the core shapes that can change from and to.

Unfortunately at this time, I don’t have a specific timeline to share about this feature. However, I’d be happy to shed a bit more light on the status of this feature- this is currently marked as “Future Consideration”, which means that while the product development team isn’t currently working on this they may revisit in the future. We’re absolutely still reviewing every comment and piece of feedback that comes through this thread. 

Every comment and use case shared is incredibly valuable to show just how valuable this would be!

So, a lot of companies have tons of Visio diagrams that they need to maintain an modify constantly. 

When importing Visio document, all the shapes are categorized as custom shape which does not support “change Shape” function ( I am not sure why Lucid does that ) so we are having to maintain Visio application so that we can continually change.

Just think about the business opportunity for Lucid if the imported Visio document shapes have support “Change Shape” functionality.
