How do I select to draw freehand or with a pen in lucid chart. This is a basic feature, I’m on the web and can’t find anywhere how to do it.

Regards,

Rob

Hi @Rob Clifton, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! You can use our Freehand Drawing tool is available in Lucidspark, which you can access from Lucidchart using our Universal Canvas feature.

Unfortunately, a Pen isn’t currently supported in Lucidchart, but we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. If you’re willing to share, we’d love to hear more details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience within this thread. I’ve also converted this post to an idea so that it’s visible to others within the Product Feedback section of the community - from here, they can upvote it and add details of their own.

Finally, for more information on how Lucid manages feedback via this community, take a look at this post:

I was looking for the exact same feature-  it seems that lucid Spark has a freehand pen,  So it really would be great to see this added to lucid chart.

tks

Thank you for the additional feedback @lucid J. Please feel free to upvote this idea and add details about your use case. 😊

I would like to use a pen instead of mouse to drag drop write stretch etc

Hi @chandraprakash.loonker, thank you for adding to this thread with your feedback! I can understand how this would be useful, and your comment here is a great way to indicate support for this idea.

I was also looking for the pen tool in lucidchart but it seems it nees to be used in a different  app… I would love to have the possibility to also create my own icons and don’t be limited to the icons that are in the library.

And not only a pen tool, also a Bezier or a vectorial tool would be better

Hi @ajg yossijaki, thank you for adding your feedback to this thread!

I’d like to mention a workaround here for your use case. In a Lucidspark board, you can create your shapes using freedhand drawing. Using universal canvas, you can then switch into Lucidchart. In Lucidchart, you can save your freehand drawing to a custom shape library for use in your Lucidchart diagrams.

To learn more about universal canvas, I recommend reading through the Use universal canvas to streamline your workflow article from the Lucid Help Center. To learn more about custom shape libraries, I recommend reading through the Shape libraries in Lucidchart article.
